John and Lynda Worrell are the Area Co-ordinators of Care Outreach in the areas around Charleville. Many years ago they felt called to go out “to the average Aussie who was not sitting in the church”.

In 2005 they left their positions with Queensland Health and volunteered full-time with Care Outreach.

They felt that the vision of Care Outreach was in line with the call that they had. Their desire is to see transformed lives and communities in the heart of Australia. They enjoy caring for the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of people.

Care Outreach now has a base about 24kms south of Charleville on Wallal Station. Volunteers are able to stay on the property while working with Care Outreach.

Plans for 2009 include a regular Aussie Day Out on Wallal where families are welcome to come and hear different speakers on such subjects such as Overcoming Depression and Overcoming Grief and Loss plus have a great lunch.

Some of Lynda and John’s tasks in their role with Care Outreach include:

• Visiting and communicating with families and individuals on the Care Outreach database.
• Providing biblical counselling and prayer ministry to families and individuals
• Managing the supply of hampers and support when needed.
• Providing practical property support as able.
• Organising, overseeing, and training volunteers
• Coordinating community events and projects. Christmas for the Bush is one of the major projects with around 180 properties being visited annually.
• Supporting local churches and Christians by preaching, pastoral support and physical help.
• Promoting Care Outreach and the vision at shows, to churches and to organisations.
